Categories & labels

Categories group your spending and income, for example Food & dining → Grocery. Every line item belongs to one category, and the dashboard charts are built from them.

Labels are extra tags that cut across categories, for example Bread, Dairy or Snacks. An item can have several labels.

When you scan a receipt, Cashfinity sorts each item on its own, in this order:

  1. Your rules. If a categorization rule matches the item, its category and labels are used.
  2. AI suggestion. Items no rule covers are sent to an AI model, which picks from your categories and labels. Only item names, prices and the shop’s name are sent (details).
  3. Review queue. Items the AI isn’t sure about stay Uncategorized and wait for you in the review queue.

Your own changes always win. When you correct an item and choose Always, Cashfinity creates a rule, so the same item is sorted your way from then on.
